We know people sometimes think lawyers charge by the minute - they can hear the clock ticking. Although for some matters we do take time spent into account, it's our aim to let you know what it will cost you beforehand (as much as we can). In order to provide you with accurate costing up front, we may meet to discuss what you are looking to achieve and what you would like us to do to help you. This can be done by phone or Skype. Then we send you a Letter of Engagement setting out:

  • Our understanding of your needs
  • Details of the services we will provide
  • An estimated Standard price for these
  • Details of when and how payment should be made.

You can then decide whether this represents good value and whether you would like to work with us.

If you decide to work with us we look for every way we can to keep the cost of your job down. Because we’re small, you won’t be paying for high overheads as well as your job, and you will always know who you are dealing with - not just a voice at the end of the phone.

If something happens outside of our control which will add to your costs, we will let you know at the time. You can be confident that there will be no nasty surprises when you receive our invoice.

​WHAT DO EXTRAS COST?

For Conveyancing and Wills only, extra time is charged at $190.00/hour including GST if any.

If we see your Sale or Purchase is Non-Standard when we receive your Agreement, we will advise you and will provide an estimate for this extra Non-Standard work.

All other legal services are charged out at $320.00 per hour including GST if any. You will be provided with an estimate of time required before we undertake your work.

Our Fees are inclusive of GST (if any).

What Do I Pay If My Sale or Purchase Does Not Proceed?

If your Agreement does not go unconditional we will not charge you the full fee. In most cases, some Standard Work has usually been done, e.g checking your Agreement, searching title, reading through LIM and/or building report, finance offers (including GST (if any).  If your Agreement does not go unconditional our fixed fee for a Standard Agreement is          $250.00

If Non-Standard Work has been done, see Non Standard Work , you will be charged $190/hr for any conveyancing extra non-standard work. However, I will advise you if your agreement requires Non-Standard work before I proceed to do this. Non Conveyancing work is charged at $320/hour.

I can help arrange and complete your refinance of mortgages, and can act for you regardless of where you reside or which bank you choose. Once you have finalized your new loan arrangement with your bank, ask them to provide their mortgagee instructions to me. Then contact me with your details so that I can make the necessary arrangements. Once your new bank has provided the mortgage instructions to me, I then arrange with you to sign the necessary documentation.

We will advise you of settlement date, and when the bank forwards your new loan monies into our trust account. When that happens, we then repay your existing loan(s) and discharge the old bank’s mortgage and then attend to registration of your new mortgage.

LINZ & Government Charges We provide an up-front all inclusive FEE for Standard Conveyancing Transactions - this fee includes GST, LINZ title search and registration fees for Standard Conveyancing Transactions. Depending on the title of your property however, there may be encumbrances, leases, covenants etc which are Non-Standard, and also need to be searched as well as other Non-Standard matters. The costs of these are additional - see Non-Standard Transactions.
